The goal we’re aiming for is to capture and forward Dash button and turn it in to a ServiceNow record we can take action on. Consider placing these around the office where “dumb” devices need service. For example, the coffee machine needs supplies, the vending machine is eating dollar bills (again), and more. And for bonus points, we’re going to make this data driven so adding new buttons and defining actions becomes a trivial effort!

In this session Chuck Tomasi along with Josh Nerius and Dave Slusher work on creating a recursive property viewer for JSON style JavaScript objects. As it builds out, Chuck got it to a point where a property could be looked up via a dotted notation in the name of the field, akin to “dot-walking” but for purely JavaScript. We were not getting expected behavior but figured it out right at the end, leading to a satisfying conclusion.
