Process Automation Designer, or PAD as it is typically abbreviated to, came on to the scene in during the Paris release, making Vancouver it’s 7th iteration. Sitting “on top” of Flow Designer, PAD acts as an intermediary between IT and the business, allowing process owners the ability to organize their content in a unified, digitized fashion that can be further automated. The visualizations of these processes, utilized by agents, are called “Playbooks.

When creating applications on ServiceNow, instead of starting from scratch you have the option of utilizing app templates. These templates help save you time and effort, coming packed with predefined data, experiences, automation, and even security. Prior to the San Diego release, the only available templates were the ones that ServiceNow provided (see the full list here). However, San Diego opened the doors and allowed everyone access to create templates!

One of the ongoing issues that we deal with in the Developer Program is the continuity of the free Personal Developer Instances (PDI). No matter how well intentioned you are, it is always possible to have a time period where you are out of the office and miss the email about your Developer Instance expiring. I don’t like the idea of anyone losing their work but there is only so much we can do to prevent it.
