Insipration So, you want to contribute something back to the community. You have come to the right place. Share is a great way to get handy utilities, inspiration, and help others. A little over a week ago I featured a the Add to Update Set Utility share item by Ben Hollifield. It is a very handy tool and has lots of features that I believe are not well known.
London is here! In keeping with our twice a year tradition, it is early access time for the London release! To get your hands on a London instance, you have a few options: If you already have an instance You can upgrade it. From the Developer Portal, click Manage > Instance in the navigation bar. From there, click the Action dropdown and click Upgrade to London.
If you don’t have an instance From the Manage > Instance page, click Request Instance.
One of the cornerstones of the ServiceNow developer ecosystem is the Share site. For years, it has been the place to share code amongst developers, whether fix scripts, templates or utilities. The site has been revamped and brought under the umbrella of the Developer Portal, where it now lives in its new home .
Along with the move to the new site, new features have been added. There is now a discussion associated with every project.
It’s time for Kingston! As always, developers can participate in Early Access and can start requesting Kingston instances from the Developer Portal as of now. To get your hands on a Kingston instance, you have a few options: If you already have an instance You can upgrade it. From the Developer Portal, click Manage > Instance in the navigation bar. From there, click the Action dropdown and click Upgrade to Kingston.
In case you were not aware, there is a collection of Technical Best Practices that are published on the Developer Portal. This material is also available via navigation under the Learn > Documentation header in the top navigation. This is important information that needs to have a good home where it is accessible by developers at any time. We often have sessions covering this material at Knowledge (I co-presented on in 2014, for example) but it can be difficult to know where to access it on a daily basis.
One of the ongoing pain points that ServiceNow developer run into is staying abreast on information about the various server side and client side APIs. It can take some thought to remember which API is occuring in the browser vs the server. That can be compounded even more by the complication of which server side APIs are global vs scoped, and then which version they were introduced or their scope access was altered.
